Terms and Conditions for Rentify Car Rentals Kefalonia

1. Introduction
By renting a vehicle from Rentify Car Rentals Kefalonia, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before making your reservation. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you may not proceed with the rental agreement.
2. Age Requirement
- Minimum Age: The minimum age for renting a vehicle is 23 years old.
- Maximum Age: The maximum age for renting a vehicle is 75 years.
3. Driver’s License
- Eligibility: Drivers must hold a valid driver’s license for at least one year.
- EU Licenses: A valid driver’s license issued by any European Union member state is accepted.
- Non-EU Licenses: Non-EU drivers must present an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their domestic driver’s license and passport.
- UK, American, Canadian, and Australian Licenses: These are valid for driving in Greece without requiring an IDP.
In the event that the required documents are not presented at the time of signing the rental contract, the rental of the vehicle will not be possible.
4. Additional Drivers
- Primary Driver: The main driver, whose name appears on the rental agreement, is the insured person responsible for the vehicle.
- Additional Drivers: Any additional drivers must be included on the rental agreement and present their driver’s license at the time of vehicle pickup. One additional driver is allowed free of charge, provided they meet the age and license requirements.
- Liability: Only drivers listed in the rental agreement are authorized to drive the vehicle. If an unlisted driver operates the vehicle, insurance coverage may become null and void, and the renter will be fully responsible for any damages or accidents.
5. Rental Period
- Minimum Rental Period: The minimum rental period is 1 day (24 hours).The rental period begins at the time of vehicle pick-up and ends at the time of the vehicle return, as specified in the rental agreement.
- Excess Charges: If the rental period exceeds the agreed hours, additional charges will apply, calculated at 1/5 of the daily rate. If the rental exceeds 3 hours, an additional full-day rental charge will be applied.
- Online Bookings: For online reservations, the minimum rental period is 3 days.
- Extension of Rental Period: If the renter wishes to extend the rental period of the vehicle, they must contact Rentify Car Rentals Kefalonia at least 48 hours before the initial rental expiration time to obtain approval for the extension. Failure to do so will render the renter both civilly and criminally liable for unauthorized use and possession of the vehicle. In the case of an extension, the renter will remain bound by the terms and conditions agreed with Rentify Car Rentals Kefalonia, including those applicable to any replacement vehicle provided in place of the original vehicle.
6. Fuel Policy
- Fuel Level: The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as when it was picked up.
- Fuel Charges: If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than it was provided with, the renter will be charged for the fuel difference.
- Excess Fuel: No refunds will be issued for fuel returned in excess of the original amount.
7. Traffic Violations & Fines
- Responsibility: The renter is solely responsible for any traffic violations, fines, or penalties incurred during the rental period.
- Payment of Fines: The company reserves the right to charge the renter’s credit card for any unpaid fines, including any associated administrative fees.
In the event that the license plates are withheld, the renter will be responsible for the applicable daily rental charges until the license plates are returned.
8. Mileage
- Unlimited Mileage: Rentify Car Rentals offers unlimited mileage with no restrictions during the rental period.
9. Pickup and Return
- Free Pickup/Return: Free pickup and return are available at Kefalonia Airport and within a 15 km radius of Argostoli, the capital city, between 08:30 AM and 09:00 PM.
- Extra Charges: For locations outside the 15 km radius or for after-hours pickup/return, additional charges will apply. These charges will be arranged at the time of booking.
10. Insurance Coverage
10.a Basic Insurance – Collision Damage Waiver ( C.D.W.)
- Included Coverage: The rental price includes the basic insurance package, which covers:
- Personal Accident Insurance for the driver.
- Third-Party Liability Insurance up to 1.300.000€
- Theft Protection (covers the vehicle only, not personal belongings).
- Fire Protection Insurance.
- 24/7 Roadside Assistance.
- Excess: A deposit of €650 (for car groups A and B) is required to cover potential damage to the vehicle. This amount will be held at vehicle collection.
10.b Full Insurance – Full Damage Waiver ( F.D.W.)
- Renters may choose to purchase Full Damage Waiver (F.D.W.) to reduce the excess to zero. This option is available for an additional daily fee. Renters who wish to be exempted from the excess charges will need to pay an additional fee of 10€ per day for categories A and B.
- Exclusions: F.D.W. does not cover damage to:
- Wheel, mirrors, tires, undercarriage, or interior (eg. sea salt stains) of the car.
- Loss or breakage of the car keys, or use of the wrong fuel.
- Damage from driving on unsuitable roads or off-road.
- Coverage Area: Insurance coverage is valid within Kefalonia and Ithaca only.
NOTE: Insurance does not cover any of the following scenarios.
- Negligence or intentional damage.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Unauthorized drivers operating the vehicle.
- Using incorrect fuel.
- Driving on unsuitable roads or off-road.
- Violations of Greek Traffic Code.
- Use for purposes other than personal transportation (eg.racing)
- Insurance does not cover damage to the vehicle during transport by boat or Ferry.
- Transporting hazardous or illegal materials.
- Any damage to the interior of the vehicle.
11. Taxes and Payment
- Taxes: All rental rates include 24% VAT and applicable municipal taxes.
- Accepted Payment Methods: Payments can be made via cash (€), credit card (Visa or MasterCard), or debit card.
- Payment Due: Full payment is required at the beginning of the rental period.
12. Rental Car Models
- Car Groups: Rentals are made by car group and not by specific car model.
- Model Substitution: The company reserves the right to provide a different model of the same or higher category in exceptional cases.
13. Boat Transport and Removal from the Island
The Renter is not allowed to remove the vehicle from the island of Kefalonia under any circumstances, unless prior written consent is obtained from Rentify Car Rentals Kefalonia. If the vehicle is taken off the island without permission, the renter will be fully liable for any resulting damages, costs, or legal consequences.
14. Prohibited Uses
The Renter agrees not to use the vehicle for the following:
- Transporting goods or passengers for hire.
- Off-road driving, racing or competitive events.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Any illegal activity
- Subletting or transferring the vehicle to another party
15. Baby and Booster Seats
Baby seats and booster seats are available upon request for an additional charge. The renter is responsible for installing the seats according to safety guidelines.
16. Cancellations and Refunds
- Free Cancellations: Cancellations made up to 7 days before the rental date are eligible for a full refund, including any deposit paid.
- Late Cancellations: Cancellations made within 7 days of the rental date are non-refundable.
- No-Shows: If the renter fails to pick up the vehicle at the agreed time and does not provide prior notice, the reservation will be canceled, and no refund will be given.
- Booking Cancellations by Rentify: Rentify reserves the right to cancel any reservation up to 24 hours after the deposit is paid if there are availability issues. In such cases, the renter will receive a full refund.
17. Breakdown or Accident Procedures
- Breakdown: In case of a breakdown, the renter must immediately contact Rentify Car Rentals for assistance.
- Accident: In case of an accident, the renter must contact the police and Rentify Car Rentals, providing a police report and relevant documentation.
18. No Smoking Policy
- Smoking is prohibited inside the rental vehicle. An additional fee may be charged in case of any damage to the interior.
19. Damage to the Interior
- Renters are responsible for any damage to the interior of the vehicle, including stains, burns, or tears in upholstery, and will be charged accordingly based on the extent of the damage.
20. Limitation of Liability
- The company is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the vehicle, including but not limited to lost time, personal injury , or loss and damage to personal belongings.
21. Privacy Policy
At Rentify Car Rentals Kefalonia we prioritize the protection of your personal data. We are committed to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable laws in Greece. By using our services, you agree to the collection, use, and processing of your personal information as outlined in this Privacy Policy.
22. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with Greek law. Any disputes arising from the rental agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kefalonia, Greece.
